While you are live
The Live page always says where the stream stands and the one thing to do next. This page explains each state, how to read a stream while it runs, and how to end it.
What each state means
| State | What is happening | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Not connected | Nothing is reaching GreenMind from OBS. Nothing is public. | Press Start Streaming in OBS. |
| Receiving from OBS | GreenMind has your picture and nobody can see it. Relay time is counting. | Check it, then go live. |
| LIVE | The stream is going out. | Run your stream. |
| OBS dropped | You are still live, but OBS stopped sending. Viewers see a stall until OBS sends again. | Start streaming again in OBS, or end it. |
| Stream ended | It is over. A stream cannot be started again. | See After the stream. |
Someone who may not do the next thing sees the state without the button.
Checking before you go live
While the state is Receiving from OBS, only your team can see the picture. The preview is marked Rehearsal: only your team can see this.
- The preview is the full stream, so it uses about 2.8 GB an hour. It does not start by itself on a phone, its sound is off until you turn it on, and it stops if the tab is hidden or nobody touches the page for a while.
- From OBS shows what is arriving, marked Good or Too low.
- Frames dropped stays a dash with OBS set up by server and key, because OBS does not report it to GreenMind. Use OBS's own stats, or control OBS from the Live page, which shows dropped frames.
- Each channel you chose shows as Ready.
Then press the go-live button, which names your channels, such as Go live on YouTube and Twitch. It sends what is in Stream details. If one channel refuses, it says why and the others still go.
Reading a running stream
The state bar shows how long you have been live, Watching (viewers on all channels together), From OBS, and how many Channels are sending. On a wide screen it also shows Credits, as hours left.
Each channel has its own word:
| Word | What it means |
|---|---|
| Sending | The stream is getting through. Its bitrate and viewers show with it. |
| Waiting for OBS | There is nothing to send yet. It starts as soon as OBS sends. |
| Connecting to Twitch | The relay is trying. This usually takes a few seconds. (On YouTube it names YouTube.) |
| Trying again | The channel did not take the stream, and the relay retries every few seconds. Details gives the reason. |
| Can't tell right now | GreenMind has no answer about this channel. That means it cannot see, not that anything is wrong. Check YouTube Studio or Twitch's Stream Manager to be sure. |
Control room opens the platform's own page for the stream, and Public page opens what viewers see.
Chat
Chat merges every channel's messages in the order they were said, with follows, subscriptions, raids and Super Chats between them. Each line shows which platform it came from.
Editors can reply. With more than one channel, tick which ones get the reply. They can also remove a message, or time its author out for ten minutes, on the platform it came from.
Clip that and markers
- Clip that marks the moment for Clips. On Twitch it also asks Twitch for a clip of the last moments, which Twitch keeps.
- Add marker only marks the moment.
Press them as things happen, and cut properly later. See After the stream.
Producer notes
Notes let a teammate write to the streamer without touching chat. Producer notes are open once OBS is sending. Write your own, or use Turn up game audio, Mic is quiet or Wrap up soon.
A note appears as a banner to everyone else on the page, and the browser tab's title shows that one is waiting. It makes no sound, because OBS could pick a chime up. The streamer presses Got it, which the writer sees as Seen, or Clear to take it away.
Only your team sees notes. They never reach chat or an OBS link, and they are deleted when the stream ends. If OBS captures your whole screen, though, it captures this page too, so capture a window instead.
Changing details while live
Press Edit details. This takes the Admin role by default. There is no save here: What will change lists each change and where it lands, and the update button sends it to viewers straight away.
Turning a channel off asks Take this channel off the stream? It ends there for everyone watching, and that broadcast cannot come back.
If a platform refuses a new title, the stream stays on air under the old one and the channel says why.
The run sheet
Run sheet is for a band's stream started from an Ensemblis show. It lists the set, marks the song playing and warns of covers. For any other stream it says Nothing on the run sheet.
Ending a stream
Press End stream, then confirm. It ends on every channel for everyone watching, OBS is disconnected, and relay time stops. You cannot start that stream again.
Stopping OBS does not end the stream. The page goes to OBS dropped, and stays there until someone presses End stream or OBS sends again. That costs nothing in relay time, but viewers are left looking at a stall.
A stream also ends if the org's credits cannot cover the next hour, or if GreenMind withdraws the brand's approval. See Live problems.
