Pipeline problems
Find what you are seeing. For how pipelines work, see Pipelines.
A pipeline is not starting
- It is Off or Paused. The status says so, and a paused pipeline says why. See It paused by itself.
- Nothing new has happened. A pipeline reads from when it was turned on, not before. A stream from last week does not count.
- It has not read yet. Sources are read regularly, not instantly, so a run can start a short while after the thing happened. Each source shows Last read with the time, or "Not read yet."
- A source could not be read. The pipeline's page shows the error with that source, and it tries again by itself. A connection needing attention is the usual cause. See Connection problems.
- It is short of a connection. Twitch clips finds nothing, and says nothing, without a Twitch connection on the brand.
- Its number was already over the line. A number crossed a line only tells you on crossing.
- It has reached its limit for the day. Each pipeline starts a limited number of runs a day, and the rest wait for the next day.
I cannot use a template
Use this is switched off, with something like "Step is for brands marketing a kind of project this brand does not market." The template needs a game, a band or Game Designer linked to the brand. See Brands and kits. Game Designer is not open to everybody yet.
I cannot save or turn it on
| The app says | What it means |
|---|---|
| You may not do that with this brand's pipelines. | Your role does not allow it. Proposing posts and setting a budget are an Admin's by default. See Who can do what. |
| A pipeline whose posts go out for approval, or by themselves, needs a budget per run and per month. | Fill in both under Budget on the outbox. |
| A pipeline needs a name. | Fill in Name. |
| This brand already has a pipeline with that name. | Choose another. A pipeline put away keeps its name. |
| It cannot take what one of those steps gives. | Takes from names a step giving the wrong kind of item. Change it, or put a step between them. |
| A pipeline starts from at least one source. | Add a source. |
| A pipeline ends in one outbox. | Add an Outbox, or remove the second. |
| This brand cannot use this kind of step. | The step needs a game or a band the brand no longer has linked. Remove it. |
| Somebody changed this pipeline since you opened it. Open it again and try once more. | Open it again and redo your change. What you had in the editor was not saved. |
| The pipeline this follows changed, and needs your say before it goes on. | It follows a shared pipeline. Answer on its page with Take this version or Stay on the version it has. See Sharing. |
It paused by itself
| The page says | What to do |
|---|---|
| Paused by itself: it reached its budget for the month. | Raise Credits a month, or wait for next month, then Resume. Raising it takes somebody who may spend. It pauses again if it is still over. |
| Paused by itself: whoever turned it on may no longer run it. Turn it on again to make it act as you. | Press Resume. It then runs as you, so a pipeline that proposes posts needs somebody who may publish. |
| Paused by itself: the pipeline it follows changed, and needs your say. | Answer on its page. See Sharing. |
| Paused by a person. | Somebody pressed Pause. Check with them, then Resume. |
After a pause, it picks up from where it stopped, so things that happened meanwhile start their runs.
A run says Waiting
Open the run and look at the steps:
- In progress on Cut a clip: the clip is being cut, or the recording has not arrived yet.
- In progress on Gather: waiting for the batch to close, or for enough items. Too few roll over to the next time.
- In progress on Keep the best: waiting for the rest of a stream's moments.
- In progress on Wait: holding for the time you set.
- In progress on Ask a person or the Outbox: somebody has to answer in the review queue.
- Held: the pipeline is paused. Resume it.
- "Held: it would cost more than the pipeline's budget for one run.": somebody who may spend presses Allow it over the budget, or you Stop this run and raise Credits a run may spend.
A run says Nothing to do
Every item was left out on the way. This is normal. Find the step showing Left out, which says why: "It is shorter than 30 seconds." from a Filter, say, or "It is 87% like a recent post" from Not too similar.
A step failed
The step says why. Common reasons:
- "There are not enough credits for this. Buy more on the org's Billing page." Buy more, then Try this step again. See Credits.
- "This pipeline acts as nobody, so it cannot write posts. Turn it on again to make it act as you." This is a pipeline the brand was given. Pause it and Resume it.
- "The step stopped without saying how it went, so it was not run again by itself. Try it again once you have checked what it made." Check what is linked to the run, then Try this step again.
- A post could reach none of its channels. The step says why for each. Connect the account, or fix the setting, such as a missing Subreddit, then try again.
A channel is missing from a post
A channel with no account on the brand is left out, and both the post and the step say "Left out of this post" with the reason. Connect the account. See Connections.
A post has no link
Add a link says "Has no link to add." when the item has none and Address is empty. Fill in Address. Some templates have no Add a link at all, so add the step.
Approving did not work
A batch says how many were decided, and names each that was not, with why. A post needing an account chosen is the usual reason: open it, choose one, and approve again. Approve stays unavailable while a post has unsaved changes, so press Save changes first.
A dry run says no time is free
"Would ask a person to approve the post; its timing leaves no time free in the next five weeks." Your Timing is too narrow for the spacing between posts. Widen From and To, or the Days of the week, or check Quiet hours and Days never to post.
It stopped posting by itself
See When it stops, and Why a post waits.
Experiments are not running
"Experiments run only while its posts are sent for approval; its outbox only drafts." Set the outbox to Posts proposed at a time, for approval. See Experiments and the optimiser.
Nothing here matches
Look at the run's page first: each step says what it did and why. See Troubleshooting for everything else.
