Number problems

This page is for figures that are missing or late, sources marked as failing, files that will not import, and links, websites and findings that do not behave. Start with the Sources list on Numbers: it names each source, says how its last pull went and gives the reason.

Figures are pulled once a day. There is no button to pull now, so most fixes show up the day after you make them.

A source is marked Failing

The reason is under the source's name. The common ones:

  • could not be reached: the network did not answer. Nothing to do. The next daily pull tries again, and reads back over the days it missed.
  • refused the credentials: the connection no longer works. Open Connections and reconnect it. See Connection problems.
  • is rate limiting: the network asked Marketing to slow down. Wait for the next pull.
  • needs connecting again: a store connection has expired. Reconnect it.
  • the connection's app is not set: the store connection has no app yet. See Store numbers never arrive.

A failing source does not stop the others. Its old figures stay.

A source is marked Not running

The source was skipped, not broken. The reason says why:

  • not-connected: nothing is connected for it. Connect the account, and give it the right use: Read post insights for YouTube, Read ads for ads, Read metrics for the stores. See Connections.
  • out-of-credits: the org has no credits left for these pulls. See Credits.
  • limit-reached: the org's spending limit for numbers is reached. See Credits.
  • not-priced: the source has no price set, so pulls for it are refused. This one is not yours to fix. Ask GreenMind.

There are no numbers yet

No numbers yet means the brand has no source with a pull behind it. Connect an account, link a game or a band, set up a website or import a file. The figures appear after the next daily pull. On the brand's overview, No figures yet. They appear after the first daily pull. says the same.

The newest days look low or dashed

A dashed line with hollow dots is a day that May still change. Sources revise recent days, and today is still counting. Wait a few days before you judge a drop. Days are counted in UTC, and Steam reports its sales by Pacific-time day, so a day will not always match a store's own report to the hour.

YouTube or Twitch figures are missing

YouTube needs a connection with the use Read post insights, and the analytics permission in Connect YouTube. A connection made before you wanted numbers may lack it, so connect it again. Twitch subscribers need an extra permission; without it everything else still arrives. See Connect Twitch.

Followers and subscribers are read as they stand, once a day. The chart cannot go back before the day Marketing first read them.

Store numbers never arrive

Steam, Google Play and the App Store need three things: the brand markets a game, an admin of the brand has connected the store, and the Store numbers section on the Imports page says which app it reports on. Only the first game the brand markets is read. See Importing numbers.

Social engagement is missing

Only posts that went out through a connected account are measured, and only on networks that give their numbers. Posts on a channel you post to by hand have none. A post's engagement is a running total, so the chart shows its level, not a day's worth.

  • Clicks show within a few minutes, not at once.
  • Visits from software, and browsers fetching a page ahead of a click, are not counted.
  • A link that is switched off shows Link not found to everyone. Press Switch on on the Links page.
  • Only links made through Marketing are counted. See Links.

Website visits are missing

A website must show Counting, and its snippet must be in the head of every page. Counting only means the analytics are ready. If the badge says Not set up, press Set up analytics. If setting up fails, wait a minute and try again. See Websites.

A file will not import

The import list shows Not read for a file nothing could be used from. The lines under it say why:

  • The file does not start with the headers this kind of export has. You chose the wrong kind in What it is, or the file is not the export. Check the kind's description under the list.
  • A column this kind of export needs is missing. The name of the column is in brackets. Export again with that column, or choose a different kind.
  • A date could not be read. The line number is shown. Dates like 10/1/2026 are read month first.
  • A cell that should hold a number does not. Fix the cell on that line.
  • The file has no date column: choose the day it covers. Fill in The day it covers, if the file has no dates.
  • Nothing in the file could be read. The file is empty or in the wrong shape. For Any CSV, see the two shapes in Importing numbers.
  • That file is too large to import. Export a shorter date range and import each part.

Only the first lines with problems are listed. A file with some bad lines still imports the good ones.

If the form is not there at all, you need to be an Editor or above on the brand.

An import worked but the figures are not there

Look for them in Figure on Numbers. A figure from Any CSV is listed under csv- and the name you gave, and its days must be inside the range you chose. Importing under a different name makes a second series. Figures from an import are counted as plain numbers.

The weekly digest does not arrive

  • Turn on Send me this each Monday on the digest for this brand. The switch is yours and is per brand.
  • You only get it while you can still see the brand.
  • It is sent once per brand and week, for the week that has just ended.
  • If your notifications for Marketing are set to mentions only, or to none, it is held back.

Nothing is learned yet

What's working needs posts that have been out for a week, on a connected account whose results the network reports. Too few posts on a finding means it is waiting for more. See What's working.

  • That source is not in the brand's vocabulary. Add it under Link sources on Settings. The same goes for the medium under Link mediums.
  • That is not one of the brand's running campaigns. The campaign is archived or does not exist.
  • That is already a short link. Share it as it is.
  • A link goes to a web address that starts with http:// or https://. Check the address.
  • ...is not on a streaming service the page can list. Release pages take Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Bandcamp, Deezer and TIDAL only.
  • This brand already has a website at that address. Each host name can be added once.
